Dear Former Anonymous Employee, Thank you for writing a review. I appreciate it. I'm sorry things didn't work out for you at CSI. Thanks for recognizing that you had excellent coworkers who are highly talented and dedicated. I couldn't agree more. Our team is our number one asset and their well-being is our number one priority. Sorry to hear you don't approve of senior management. However, to one of your points, in January of this year we hired a new CSO who has 20 years experience working for Fortune 500 companies. He's a great leader and we expect great results from him. Your comment about our long-term direction is off base. We have very clear short and long-term goals and we started sharing them with the team late last year. On that note, we've been very open about our development road map and we've demonstrated our new platform to the entire team. One of the primary results of the new platform will be to relieve work stress and improve work/life balance. Thanks again for your feedback. If you find yourself between jobs please take another look as us because I think you'll be amazed at our new technology. Sincerely, Chris Williams President

Not a good place to work

Business Outlook

Pros

Able to work a few days at home

Cons

Unprofessional management, verbal abuse, a lot of unpaid overtime required, no growth opportunities, expected to work during vacation time and holidays, difficult to get your vacation time, they fire a lot of people in cycles. It's a family run business and they do whatever they want to do to their employees. There is no encouragement, nor support from management. This is not a pleasant place to work and not a long term employment position. I discourage anyone from applying, there are much better companies to work for.

Dear Former Event Services Manager, Thank you for taking the time to write a review. I appreciate it. I'm sorry things didn't work out for you at CSI however, you comments are simply untrue. The management team, from the executive team to the middle mangers, is very professional and dedicated to supporting the entire team and helping them grow. Almost 100% of all managers have been promoted from within the organization which supports the fact that growth opportunities are plentiful and available to everyone. There is daily encouragement and support from the entire management staff. It happens verbally, in writing, through training, through development and through team building. It's a major part of our corporate philosophy and it applies to everyone. Everyone in the company has vacation time and uses it. Like all companies, there's a procedure in place and it's not difficult to schedule and everyone does it. No one is expected to work during vacations and holidays. However, like all clients of any business, our clients do have an expectation that we'll deliver the services that were promised to them. Therefore, we have back-up procedures in place to complete work when someone is out for any reason. This has been the case for the entire 39 years we've been in business. This business is run by an executive management team. The team does include three family members but three people cannot run a business of this size. It requires a team and the decisions are made by that team in conjunction with the middle managers. Perhaps there are business where management can "do whatever they want to their employees" but this isn't one them. Our team members are the most important asset we have and the number one factor in our success. Our philosophy of putting them first will never change. Best Regards, Chris Williams President

Pros

Great people. Interesting industry. I learned a lot while working there. Open door policy with easy access to management.

Cons

Lose a client, lose staff roller coster. There never seemed to be any long term strategic goals. Management decisions seemed arbitrary.

Dear Former Anonymous Employee, Thank you for taking the time to write a review. I appreciate the feedback. I'm glad you feel our staff is great. I feel the same way. Our staff is our number one asset and every decision being made is with their well-being in mind. I can assure you there has always been, and will always be, long term strategic goals. I think the mistake was that we didn't communicate them well to the entire staff. We now have a communication process in place that allows us to share the company's goals and vision with the entire staff on an ongoing basis. Thanks again. Sincerely, Chris Williams President

Pros

Great coworkers and management seems to care about the people. Casual environment. Work from home few days a week. Free weekly chair massages and yoga class. Also great health benefits.

Cons

Building is OLD, cubicles and offices are small, but there is a big move into a new building the end of this year. Customers can be unreasonably difficult.

Dear Event Services Manager, Thank you for your review. I appreciate you taking the time to write it. I'm very glad to learn you like your coworkers and benefits. I'm also glad that you feel management cares about the employees. We do. We're certain our employees are our number one asset. Also, I hope you like the new building. It's "A" space and we're proud to call it home. Regarding our customers, they can be difficult. However, as a whole, the entire team does a great job servicing them. You're going to find that our new platform is going to make it infinitely easier to make them happy. It will be here soon. Thank you for the advice relative to training. We are always working to make the training better and we made some changes this year to the Professional Services Group that will improve it. Thank you for your review and I'm glad things are going well for you at CSI. Sincerely, Chris Williams President

Pros

I've been at CSI for almost 9 years and am looking forward to many more. My position has evolved, changed and expanded over the years. I've had many opportunities over the past 9 years and have grown in each of my roles. CSI allows employees to move within the company which allows for growth and to keep employees happy. We have a new management team and I'm truly excited about the future. We moved recently to a beautiful office coupled with new leadership it almost feels like a new energized company. Life at CSI is never boring and I can't wait for what is on the horizon for CSI and the team.

Cons

Every company has challenges but its how a company addresses the challenges. The management's doors are always open to listen if you encounter a challenge. There is a team environment so if an employee runs into an internal or external challenge there is always a sounding board for us to come together to find a resolution.

Pros

I've worked at CompuSystems for almost two years now and have seen where the company was and where it is now headed. One of the main reasons why I enjoy working here and am excited about the future is that right now I feel like everyone is in a position to help shape the future of this company. In one way or another every employee has their hand in creating the new CompuSystems (as we recently re-branded) and I think its really great to see my work being directly involved in that. The team atmosphere is really were it starts. The different departments are great at working together to come up with custom solutions for our clients.

Cons

There is still some communication issues that need to be worked out in the implementation/creation process of certain things across departments but management has really made a great effort to enhance its employee engagement and communication recently. Plus, they really listen to concerns and offer solutions.

Dear Valued Current Employee, Thank you for taking the time to write a review. I appreciate it. I'm so glad to learn of your excitement about the future. Your feelings are correct in that the entire staff is participating in shaping the future. We're building amazing new software with the input of the entire team. Everyone's stamp will be on the finished product. Thanks for sharing your comment about the great team atmosphere and thanks for letting me know that you still feel communication challenges need to be worked out. I agree. I can tell that streamlining communication is a top priority and please continue to provide your feedback on our progress. Thanks for being on the team! We're glad you're here! Pros

There are employees that really care and do a great job as well as help others to do a good job. The company seems to be trying to improve their technology infrastructure. Communication seems to have improved.

Cons

Though upper management seems to be trying to improve 'employee engagement' I'll believe it when I see it. Employee benefits are not competitive with other companies, even though upper management seems to think that it is. A few employee parties cannot take the place of competitive benefits (low cost insurance, ample vacation time, improved 401k match).

Dear Valued Employee, Thank you for taking the time to write a review. I appreciate it. Thank you for recognizing the many, many team members who do a great job and help those around them succeed. I see the same thing day in and day out and I'm grateful for the team we have. You will love the new technology platform that will be released in a few months. It will improve almost every job in the company. Thank you for noticing and commenting on our improved communication. That is one of our 2016 corporate initiatives and we feel we've made some strides. We have more ideas that we'll implement and it will be an ongoing effort to make it is as good as it can possibly be. On that topic, management has been receiving positive feedback all year. This year we surveyed the team to help determine areas of improvement, we've added many recognition programs and we created a focus group made up of various team members where ideas are discussed that will lead to a better workplace. Culture improvements take time and effort. I want you to know I'm committed to do whatever is necessary to make CSI one of the best places to work. Also, please feel free to come see me to give me your candid feedback as well as share ideas. We simply want to continue to improve. Now let's talk benefits. We currently offer three insurance plans and all three are "Gold" plans according to the government’s healthcare site. Our plans vary in cost to the employee but two are below the national average and one is above. Also, the employee cost for the plans has remained the same for three years but two of the three did increase for 2016. We will always try to give you the best health care for the lowest cost. That's always been a priority and it always will. Regarding our 401k, our contribution is below the national average. Throughout our history it was always in line with the national average but we were forced to lower our contribution as a result of the recession. That said I want you to know we will be increasing our contribution over time. I expect to be back at the national average within a few short years and my goal is to exceed it. Regarding pay and vacation time, I want you to know these topics are near and dear to our heart. It is in the company's best interest to pay as well as we possibly can and offer the most vacation time that we possibly can. We don't want any team member to feel underpaid in general, or relative to their coworkers. If you feel that way please speak with your manager right away. If you don't get the resolution you're looking for I invite you to speak with me or any member of the management team. Lastly, regarding the new platform implementation, I assure you we have every department head working on the plan and the process. It's our top priority right after our team members. Happy holidays. A sinking ship, don't even bother.

Pros

Compusystems has some good people working for it. Most people I met there are good-natured and intelligent. They have some... interesting ideas here for employee wellness like weekly yoga classes, Weight Watchers meetings, a walking club (or something along those lines) etc.

Cons

I mentioned above that the employees are generally easy-going and approachable. The problem is none of these good folks are in significant leadership positions. Company leadership is severely lacking. While I was working there, I could count the number of times I'd seen my manager in any given month on one finger, at most. Anyone above him? Forget it, I wouldn't know who they were if they slapped me in the face. The way I see it, this company has two key problems: 1. Severely outdated, frustrating, and bizarre standards for development combined with insane, horribly fragile and inefficient business processes 2. All these inefficiencies and frustrations lead to an enormous backlog of work that never goes away because they don't have enough people to cover everything, and the company couldn't care less about retaining the employees they do have. People are REALLY stressed out as a result in many departments. The amount of profanity I heard people using there is kind of crazy, and there seems to be some serious pent-up hostility between many departments here. It's hard to know whether upper management doesn't know about this, or if they do and they just don't CARE. Outside of the token employee wellness gestures above, I often got the sense the Compusystems just doesn't care about its employees, or worse yet, actively hates them. I had this impression from the very first day when I saw the office I'd be working in, which would have looked old and dismal over 30 years ago. Communication at lower levels can be pretty lousy, too. I remember one stretch of about two weeks when I sat idle with no idea what I was supposed to work on until I told another developer about it, who just happened to have some idea of what was going on. They've been around for over 30 years, but there's no drive to do things the RIGHT way here. Apparently they've built their success on three decades of following awful or nonexistent practices and praying every day that they don't come crashing to the ground. In 2012, they froze raises for EVERYBODY because they decided to hire some "consultants" for an unspecified large sum of money. For a while, I thought they had taken the money and run off laughing to the bank. However, in October of that year, they announced a whole bunch of changes, including a ton of layoffs. If it sounds like something that fell right out of Office Space, on some level, that's what it was. Turnover is sky high in all departments except management. I saw people last for less than six months and people who had been with the company for over a decade leaving, voluntarily or involuntarily, in my short time there. The whole company kind of seems to be falling apart, both figuratively and even literally. The roof leaks and water soaks through to the ceiling panels on the 2nd floor when it rains heavily. Sometime last year, two panels fell out of the ceiling and better yet, the company doesn't rent out that particular area, so who knows when they'll be fixed, if ever? It's one of the great mysteries of the universe how this company makes money, in my opinion. The only reasonable theory I have for why they're still in business at all is that there's little or no significant competition on the services they provide. In any other industry, more efficient, innovative competitors would boot Compusystems out of the market so fast they wouldn't know what hit them. Stay away!

Dear Former Anonymous Employee, Thank you for taking the time to write a review. I'm sorry things didn't work out for you at CSI but I want to thank you for your hard work while you were here. You've said a lot and clearly your experience wasn't positive. I apologize for that. Our previous building was very old but it served us well while we were there. It allowed us to grow from about 75 employees to 240 without having to move. So from that perspective it was great. However, it was not good enough for our staff and that is why we allowed our lease to expire and then move into our new building, which is "A" rated space. It's absolutely awesome. Management cares greatly about our employees. We have changed our communication process to where we now keep all of our employees up to date with weekly communication. We're also in the process of building an entirely new technology platform that will lessen the workload of each employee. Everyone will get entirely new tools that are much more efficient. Also, the new platform, due at the end of 2015, will allow us to add some key positions and departments that don't currently exist. The result will be more training, more employee development and better management. I hope things are working out for you in your current job but if you find yourself between jobs in the future please take another look at us. I think you'd be really happy working in the new environment. Sincerely, Chris Williams President
