Loved my job until past two years

Pros

I love working with and meeting new people. I love that it has flexible hours. I take pride in my work and have been employed now over ten years. I used to really love my job up until the past 3 years.

Cons

In the past few years Cracker Barrel had changed or at least in our store. I feel they are harder on the long term employees than the new ones. They may say they won't retaliate if you call and complain to corporate but that is so far from the truth. They will nit pick until they find something to fire you for give you bad section, cut your hours or schedule you out of your availability . There seems to be no sense of loyalty for long term workers. We also get blamed for anything the younger ones do wrong. The turn over at our store is unreal. Our GM is the scariest meanest man on the planet , not to mention vengeful. They is no communicating with him as he is always right. Everyone that works there or has worked there hates him with a purple passion. He loves to make women cry and he has smug smile when he does that.

We truly value you and would love to make things right. Please reach out to the Field HR team or the Employee Relations team regarding your concerns. Managers are not allowed to retaliate.

Pros

Get a discount in the retail shop and resturant, guest are nice

Cons

In retail everyone bosses you around every second of every minute. You can't actually do your job without someone telling you what to do. There is a difference between coaching and bossing employees around. My manger text me on my phone to pick up shifts and when truck moves to different days but when I call up there to speak to her and she s not there I texted her so she wouldn't hear about it from other employees that i can work only certain days I don't get a text back or schedule for four weeks. Until I called up there asking what was the deal, she schedule me the next week and I had something come up and since I didn't work for four weeks if I didn't work that week I would be fired. I tried getting it covered and tried picking up a shift but no one responded, I still haven't heard anything from her if I'm fired or not.
