Pros

Some of the best training I have ever seen. Benefits are great in all ways. (But the 10yr anniv. sabbatical and generous time off is hard for anyone to use we were working so much.) Very good for people coming out of military careers.

Cons

Pay isn't the best. Not hiring from within for management jobs. Work is long hours and hard. They let you know up front you will sacrifice family time for your job. And they mean it. Very political and cult like. Lot of integrity issues. Saying one thing and doing another. Look the other way if it helps. Don't bring your own ideas even though they say you can. (Not a new reality in the construction industry) Don't trust anyone! There aren't any "safe" people to talk with. Including your mentor. Their growth goals are unrealistic and they are trying to be everything to everybody to accomplish them. The reason they give for getting through the housing recession has been completely ignored in the new market. This is really scary as they are holding lots of land now.

DWHomes - Building Houses, Selling Dreams ... Broken Dreams!!

Pros

Nice people to have intelligent conversations with, at least most of the time.

Cons

Management go around saying they care for the employees; ask yourself something: If they cared so much then why would they continue to DEMAND an average monthly performance of 90% or greater from the employees, but salaries remain below the 65% effectiveness?? This of course has it exceptions such as Sales positions and field production. Build and sell right? WRONG!! 75-80% of the entire business process happens within the office's walls; There's Purchasing, Design, Land Management, IT, HR, and many other departments yet the disparity goes to the extremes of 40-80% of additional income through bonuses and commissions for those formerly mentioned. Now, what is this "Most definitely would recommend" ?? This represent the way DWHomes rates performance. MDWR represents above 100% rendering, and they even go to extend of buying surveys from customers to support their status quo and therefore continue feeding the lie to its internal customers, that David Weekley Homes is amidst the greatest companies nation wide. There are just so much going south within this company, and I have WASTED too much time of my life working for David Weekley Homes that at this point I don't feel is worth any more than me saying: DON'T DO IT ... work somewhere else!
