Good if you can ignore the company

Pros

Everyone I work with is whip smart and willing to help out. When I need a question answered that I can't find an answer to, I know I can contact anyone in the company and they will either give me an answer or the right person to ask. My coworkers are the reason I've stayed so long. Epic is a fantastic way to build skills quickly, if you plan to hold a job for a few years and then move on this is a great place to make connections with smart people and build a variety of impressive skills.

Cons

The people are fantastic, the company is rigid. If you don't fit into the "Epic" way of doing things, tough luck. There is little to no flexibility for special circumstances. They tend to decide one thing and you are expected to fall in line, which is frustrating when that means doing things less effectively. For example, the COVID response in general. Everyone has to work from the office. You're in a cast and can't navigate the huge campus well? Tough luck, do your virtual meetings from your office. You have members of your household who can't be vaccinated? You still need to come to UGM (yearly conference) and gather with people from all over the globe. You can check the media for more examples of this. I have also been consistently disappointed in the upper management's response to DEI issues.

Pros

Decent pay Relatively little oversight (as long as your a good boy or girl)

Cons

Will treat you like a child/student instead of a professional The longer you stay the more you will be overloaded with work There is a noncompete if you want to stay in healthcare Otherwise the skills you learn here probably aren't helpful in the long term Vacation/time off discouraged and no work from home Honestly, I could go on but those are the main points. ^^^Header

Pros

The pay is good, I can't make what I make elsewhere given my education. My co workers are excellent, and they're what make my day to day enjoyable.

Cons

Epic refuses to adapt to changing times, and it's driving out the talented people that made it a good place to work. As they lose talent, due to terrible work flexibility, they just dump more responsibilities on you and assume you'll just work more to make up for their failings. They rebrand policies, cut off avenue of feedback and pretend they're listening. To top it off, they expect you to pretend that their terrible policies are good and that you love them.
