Disastrous sales org

Pros

good pay but only if you’re hitting your quota

Cons

The sales org is an absolute mess. Hardly any reps hit quota. Feels like management doesn’t want you to succeed. Lots of politics and favoritism. If more than half of your reps aren’t hitting quota then maybe you should reevaluate

Pros

Good experience in the swe space

Cons

Very try hard. Living out unrealized hs fantasies. Corny. And very, very, very, white. Try hard at showing diversity, SUPER noticeable and not natural. Tries to be clever but fails. Cliché favorites at the company who mainly get promoted. Can’t get real customers. Did I mention, very caucasian.

The decline continues...

Pros

There's a strong group of workers still here. it's remote. There was a strong positive culture of merit, hard work and transparency here historically and there are still vestiges of it.

Cons

It is a giant blob of disorganization and confusion. It's impossible to get anything done. Imagine walking into a giant Amazon warehouse full of unlabeled boxes in no specific organizational pattern. Your job? Find one box in all of this chaos. You'd clock in and do your best, maybe you'd eventually find the first box, then maybe you'd find the second: but it's inevitable you'd eventually fall short and the work would take forever. You've been set up to fail. And then there's a finger waiting to point at you as the weak link and lay offs are looming. That's what working at Expel is like. You're given impossible tasks to figure out with no documentation or structural support. You just have to figure it out. It creates an environment where people play social/political games to keep their position because displaying actual merit is almost impossible. It's amazing anything gets done at all - it's a testament to the talent of the team. The culture is in a tailspin - look at the comments about "stop being woke"... the company has already lost most of it's diversity and it's observably not flourishing as a result. People are just stupidly finger pointing because they clearly have no clue what's going on.
