You're never going to be "family" here
Pros
They technically have to pay you. Free food (leftovers) sometimes.
Cons
I have been out of here for a while but have heard things have only gotten worse since. After LBS got a shot in the arm from the start of the pandemic, the lightening of pandemic restrictions and nobody really paying attention to it anymore (rightfully or wrongfully) resulted in a glut of layoffs last year. This place will always remind you that you're family, at least until you aren't. When you are working there, they will throw so much work onto you that quality goes out the window. If I were purchasing medical devices, I would have to wonder if I would feel comfortable purchasing from an organization that cuts as many corners as Leica does in its operations. "Efficiency" run amok. The culture? Toxic. The "Best team wins" motto, however intended, ensures a cutthroat winner-takes-all approach where you WILL be thrown under the bus by colleagues or Peter-principled managers (plenty of those! if you slept through an MBA, congrats, you get subordinates to lord over) who don't like to see people who actually work hard. They will find reasons to punish you if payroll/finance demands it (doesn't use DBS enough, abrasive personality, not a team player). DEI is a joke, they will get visible diversity but only if everyone thinks exactly the same. And the Danaher Business System (DBS) is a cult…checklists and planing boards that makes my official OCPD-diagnosis blush. I am convinced senior management cannot tie their own shoes without running a DBS approved method first. DBS is simply the obsessive utilization of tools and frameworks that have been developed elsewhere and appropriated under that banner. The entire purpose of DBS is to standardize everything so that you, the employee, are replaceable, and as I've demonstrated, they absolutely will replace you (you are considered "waste"/"muda", that is what this "family" thinks of you). I was not laid off, I left voluntarily, and if you have a choice, I recommend staying far away from this one. There are better employers out there, LBS will gaslight you into not believing that.
