Pros

A lot of good people work at Shift Paradigm.

Cons

Quiet layoffs every few months during 2023. No merit adjustments or bonuses since last year. Aggressive outsourcing efforts - an entire North America-based QA team was laid off last year, and then slowly replaced with associates working in a time zone 12 hours away. This left gaps in coverage and caused strain on the teams that relied on QA. This is just one example. The executives have been ripping the copper piping out of the walls of a once-well performing company to keep it limping along. Let's see where this takes them.

Thank you for your feedback. We understand the concerns you have highlighted. However, there are a few areas where additional context may help to provide some clarity. We are not actively outsourcing North American jobs to India; we are simply adding staff in India to supplement our existing NA resources. Yes, we had to make some very difficult decisions to reduce some of our staff in North America earlier this year, but we have not rehired any of our eliminated positions in India. On October 16th, we announced that all employees below Director level were given their annual bonuses in their base salary. That means we added that amount to each employee's base salary instead of waiting for a bonus. On average, our employees have seen between an 8-10% increase in their base salary, which is much larger than we are seeing in our space. We are very excited to recognize and invest in our people this year in a meaningful way. We are a high-performing company in an incredibly volatile and complex market. We continue to look forward to what is ahead of us with new clients and stronger relationships with existing ones. We wish you the best in your future endeavors.

Pros

GREAT coworkers, wonderful clients, good benefits, remote work is the best, loved the flexible time off. My time although cut short by all the layoffs this company has gone through over the past year has been truly remarkable. Despite never meeting my colleagues in person, I forged enduring friendships. I felt secure within my internal team, and our synergy was exceptional. We were fortunate to collaborate with outstanding clients, which added to the overall positive experience. This remote workplace has not only been professionally fulfilling but has also enriched my personal life by fostering lasting connections. I am immensely grateful for the wonderful journey I've had here.

Cons

Working at this company has been a rollercoaster of disappointment. Despite my dedication, there have been no raises, bonuses or promotions in two years, making it feel like our efforts are undervalued. The company's inconsistent approach to staffing is baffling - laying off over 30% of the workforce while continuing to hire new employees during 'difficult times' is counterproductive. Furthermore, the two restructures since I joined were perplexing, with the second appearing unnecessary. Leadership's decision-making has been questionable, leaving us feeling like they are out of touch with the reality on the ground. They don't seem to grasp the importance of listening to employees' needs and desires for job satisfaction, and their delayed attempts to address concerns have only fueled frustration. The lack of technical training despite promises of more technical work is particularly frustrating. My manager and I repeatedly raised the need for proper training to handle the incoming technical projects, but our pleas fell on deaf ears. I took it upon myself to enroll in Google Project Management, data analytics, and fundamental AI courses to bridge the gap, all while managing a majorly increased workload. I kept management in the loop about my efforts to improve, only to be blindsided by my sudden layoff upon completing my Google Project Management Certification. What stings the most is the feeling of being replaced, as the company swiftly hired a new Project Manager with the technical experience I had advocated for. Despite my dedication to self-improvement and my clients' success, I was discarded without much consideration. This experience has left me disillusioned and disheartened, highlighting the company's lack of appreciation for its employees' commitment and growth.

We appreciate the time you took to write a review. The last two years have been a period of tremendous change in our company's history. We have made decisions that are strategic and have positioned us for the work we are being asked to do by our clients now. This is a bit different than the work we have done previously. We have also made changes to our communications that have led to a transparent and proactive culture. We wish you the best in what is next for you in your career.

Pros

The family aspect was great to me in the beginning. People came together to get the work done and learn more. Everyone wanted to lift others up.

Cons

The allowance of clients to become increasing toxic and the loss of core values. In my last years at TLI, it was no longer a family and there was more value placed on making money than on the people doing the work. Concerns with overwork and burnout were ignored, goals and directions were set then ignored, and the workers in technology are no longer valued.
