Pros

Love my boss and team, every one of them. Each has their strengths and is able to play to them with our VP's guidance. PTO is easy to take, employees are generally kind and professional. Really enjoy being able to learn from others and their generosity in both sharing information and skills and assisting with projects. Teams such as IT, specific showroom managers and account managers, warehouse team members, and logistics/shipping are especially warm, willing, smart and a pleasure to work with.

Cons

Upper management has some challenges within the team of VPs and ownership. There is a lot of politics amongst the team of VPs, a few of them are not nice and often do not respect one another or their respective teams. Ownership is interested and wants to do the right thing, but there is some balance to be achieved between 2nd and 3rd generations. There are also a number of "values" that are asserted yet not followed AT ALL by VPs, managers and leadership and it reminds me of teaching nursery school in the sense that children sometimes need to be reminded to be "kind and gentle". This group needs to be reminded to be respectful and professional. It's PD. I'm specifically referencing PD.

I appreciate your positive sentiments about your team, the ease of taking PTO, and the supportive environment created by various teams such as IT, showroom managers, account managers, warehouse, and logistics/shipping. It's great to hear that you enjoy learning from others and value the generosity and professionalism within our organization. I acknowledge the concerns you’ve raised regarding upper management and the challenges within the team of VPs and ownership. Your feedback about the need for respectful and professional behavior is noted, and I agree that it is crucial for our leadership to embody the values we communicate. Old School Salary Draw

Recommend

Business Outlook

Pros

Uncapped commission, access to healthcare (although extremely expensive), great colleagues, and resourceful showroom.

Cons

Prepare to struggle financially for the first 2-3 years. They work on a very old school salary draw that just doesn’t work in the 21st century. Do not count on management for support and they are not on YOUR side, please remember this! The corporate and warehouse staff can be very rude and unhelpful.

Hello, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We genuinely appreciate your insights and are grateful for your contributions during your time at Stark Carpet. We are pleased to hear that you found value in our uncapped commission structure, healthcare access, and the camaraderie among colleagues. Our resourceful showroom is indeed one of our proudest assets, and we are glad you recognized its benefits. However, we are concerned about the challenges you faced, particularly regarding the financial struggles during the initial years and the perceived lack of support from management. We have recently revised and enhanced our starting pay structure for new Account Managers to better support their financial well-being. Additionally, we are actively reviewing our compensation models to ensure they align with modern standards. Your comments about management support and the behavior of corporate and warehouse staff are taken very seriously. We are committed to fostering a supportive and respectful work environment. We appreciate your advice on vetting and training managers. It is crucial for us to have leaders who not only excel in their roles but also inspire and support their teams. We will take your feedback into account as we continue to refine our management practices. Thank you once again for your feedback. We are committed to making Stark Carpet a better place to work for everyone and hope to have the opportunity to demonstrate these improvements in the future. If you would like to discuss any of these issues further, please contact me at cstark@starkcarpet.com. Best, Chad Stark CEO
