Company destroying lives without a care

Pros

They still seem to be growing and looking at new ways to do it. They are moving expensive jobs to the south where they can save money and I guess long term save other jobs.

Cons

They really don't care about the employee. All the cost savings is about them and how to get the money back in there pockets. Owning a business is risky and hard work. They best companies treat employees fair and reward good service. This company has blatantly disregarded people and the years they have put in. They trust the wrong people and don't give others the time of day.

Hello: I’m sorry that you feel company management doesn’t care about our employees. That sentiment could not be farther from the truth. We care about our employees deeply. While it is accurate to say that we have reinvested back into the company, all companies do this. In all fairness we have also given much of the savings to our employees in several ways. By example, each year for the past three years the company has given out cost of living adjustments, cash gifts at the holidays and performance bonuses to all eligible employees. The company also supplements the cost of employee’s medical insurance, pays fully for employee life insurance, gives employees a very generous amount of paid time off and fully funds the company’s Employee Stock Ownership Plan (ESOP). The ESOP is specifically designed to provide employees with monetary rewards based on company performance because we recognize that without our great employees we would not be the company we are. The Calhoun operation is the heart and soul of our business. It provides us with a competitive advantage over others carpet and fabric companies, so if you believe there are problem there that are not being addressed I invite you to send me an email ( cstark@starkcarpet.com ) with specific example of what your referring to and I will address the issues. Additionally, this organization is not a dictatorship so please email suggestions@starkcarpet.com if you have any new ideas or feel that “bad choices are being made" – this email is monitored from the top-down and you still get $100 if you bring up a suggestion that gets implemented. Hope to hear from you soon. Sincerely Chad Stark Sr. Vice President

Pros

beautiful products, great location, laid back employees, sometimes fun designers.

Cons

where to begin. misogynistic men who almost try too hard to make up for working in the design field. As a sales person and woman, I overheard so many conversations between the manager and coworkers about how the women clients were "dumba**" ... there was no proper training for the outdated system, nor was there any mention of it in the job description online. The qualifications for the job included making appointments, answering phones, greeting clients, etc. I was never addressed by the boss, but rather bossed around by his minion who only reported the negative, because he clearly had some agenda. I still have my job because I'm "cute". I could go on and on, but I need to pay the bills so I won't.

I am sorry that you had the experience you describe in this post. What you described is never acceptable behavior. To set the record straight the company does not condone sexual harassment in any way, shape or form ever. If you want to talk now or if you ever find yourself subjected to that kind of behavior ever again contact me directly (wliggan@starkcarpet.com) and I will address the issue immediately. Training can and is being improved; it’s a work in progress. As far as our internal systems go, they are not antiquated but rather industry specific customized systems and if you have not worked in the industry before the graphical user interface (what you see on the screen) may in some cases look different than applications that you have used in the past (by example MS Word). We don’t mention the specific system in our job postings because we focus on attracting people who can learn all types of systems. Believe me when I say that ‘being cute” is not why your still employed. Regardless of what anybody else has said or reported, your Boss is keeping you for one of two reasons; you are either doing your job very well or she or he sees potential in you. Whatever your future holds for you, we want you to be successful and happy. Sincerely, Bill Liggan VP, Human Resources and Administration
