To say that people here are underpaid is an understatement. It goes beyond just not being market rate for some roles. Underpaying employees is a system problem in TransPerfect in all facets of the company. Given my role, I was able to see firsthand the insulting type of salaries that were offered to new employees and the paltry raises given to current ones. It was mind-boggling that senior management saw nothing wrong with this, especially given that they were so worried about retention. If you are not customer-facing in TransPerfect, you are quite literally an afterthought for senior leadership. They talk about wanting to be an employer of choice but the very basic necessity of paying people at least the market rate is not on their radar. The belief is that TransPerfect culture is so good that it makes up for what is missed in dollars. I wouldn't say that TransPerfect has a bad culture, but I would save it's very average at best. It in no way makes up for the pay disparity. Additionally, they are making a push to get everyone back in office despite them having literal record-breaking revenue years with a work-from-home strategy. It is as if executive leadership and senior management cannot see the forest for the trees. They actively bury their head and refuse to address core problems because it would cost them money and it seems they are highly allergic to spending money on their employees.
