Pros

Solid performing defense / government contractor. Currently in the "small business" category, but expect growth into a medium-sized entity in the near future. Excellent process - especially in core competencies of software development - ISO 9000 / CMMI Level 3. Impressive that a young firm has adopted these recognized methodologies. I won't even address the negative reviews - "not worthy of merit" is a nice way of stating it, "disgruntled, non-performing whiners" might be more appropriate. Exceptional vision as to expanding the customer base - both to new government agencies as well as commercial pursuits. Not resting on their laurels on a few major contract awards. If you are contacted to interview or offered the opportunity to work here - then you've already been identified as a quality candidate and should be able to make the grade. There is no room for "clock punchers" here. The company is too streamlined (keeps the rates down - helps win new business) to afford extraneous positions. They currently pay 100% of medical for the employee - awesome!

Cons

Spurts in growth sometimes accompanied by growing pains. Some legacy processes, i.e., spreadsheets instead of databases, a magnetic in/out board (?) can be frustrating, puzzling and sometimes humorous - but in a good way - obvious signs of rapid growth. It is government contracting, after all.

Excellent feedback and thank you for your comments about the negative review, legacy processes, in/out board etc. Please contact us regarding some of your thoughts to be included in the decision day to have rapid resolution. Completely agree on the performance delivery to be taken at the highest levels. As you may have heard us, as a small business, we are known only by our last job. Solid Team, Past Performance and Reputation are our only real assets.

Company Needs a Lot of Work

Pros

A couple of good long term awarded contracts - EBS, USDA DFAD

Cons

The CEO and COO are very demanding and everything is needed ASAP or is urgent. Many fundamental business processes, policies, and procedures are non-existent or broken. Expect to work long hours, late nights, and weekends and be on call 24/7. All work computers have employee monitoring software (sonar central) installed (as directed by CEO) to detect keyboard key strokes, computer idle time, software used, and websites visited. High employee turnover (you will be fired if you do not get along with the CEO / COO or meet their demands.) Lack of ethical standards by management.

I respectfully welcome you to have a conversation with me directly (COO). I will address the perceived "lack of ethical standards". Being a federal government contractor, we are audited by multiple government agencies, and take pride in following the highest standards. Inefficient processes, sure. Unethical - absolutely not. Very demanding on ourselves, sure (we have the responsibility to deliver exceptional service to our customers). Being on-call 24x7, being fired if you do not get along with the CEO/COO - absolutely not. We encourage all of us to hold each other accountable for high performance. Mediocrity is not tolerated. VSolvit is NOT for everybody. We fully recognize this, and expect attrition.
