Pros

Stable, steady job. The company is making a lot of money so it should be around for a while.

Cons

You WILL be asked to give a lot of your personal time for the business but they will be ruthless about giving back anything in return. Trust no verbal contract you receive, they will break it the second it serves their best interest. They espouse "core values" but do little to ensure that their management lives up to these values. The HR company they use CPEHR is horrendous. They claim to be a neutral third-party but they are in the managements' back pocket. Be extremely wary of going to them for any help. When management starts bullying and harassing you, you will be on your own so I hope you have a lawyer or a friend with HR experience. There is a good deal of grumbling within the company over lack of raises. Upper management has acknowledged that they've been way behind the curve in providing merit increases but refuses to do anything about it. The only way you'll get a raise is if you work as a government contractor and you negotiate the raise from the government side (that way the money comes out of the government pockets and not out of VSolvit's). Bottom line is that they will not hesitate to engage in bad faith business deals. You will be chewed up and spit out. No matter how specialized your work is you will be treated like you are expendable. Work here at your own risk.

1. I encourage you to reach out to me directly to potentially address some perceptions. 2. Being a federal government contractor, we are restricted by the contract. 3. Yes we expect high performance from all team members, to ensure that our customers get the best value. It is a tough economic environment, and we should ensure that the $ are expended wisely. We are investing heavily in innovation/process improvement to ensure long term success & stability.

Pros

Management recognizes my contribution to its success regularly. Payal Kamdar ensures that her staff is trained and prepared to perform at the highest level possible. I'm very pleased with VSolvit's benefit package. If you need to Insure only yourself, then Health Insurance costs employees nothing. Executive management spends long hours that eat into their evening hours researching the best plans for their employees. I've seen them online well after most of us are sound asleep working to keep VSolvit growing, their customers happy and to keep VSolvit financially healthy so that we can all enjoy continuous employment with them. The Work environment at VSolvit HQ in Ventura is wonderful. Many VSolvit's interns that I work with are young college students with very little employment experience living in areas of very low employment opportunities. The VSolvit Solution Center (VSC) intern program is designed to launch these individuals into a career that meets their goals. The pay is minimum wage where many intern programs pay nothing. VSolvit is a small but growing company and that they are using indirect/overhead money to pay the VSC interns is admirable.

Cons

I'd really like to have 3 weeks vacation per year instead of 2 weeks. If I stay with VSolvit long enough I will get there.

Pros

Lots of opportunities. Company has grown significantly lately, and we only hear of hiring. no downsizing. High job security. Excellent opportunity for folks who are trying to move up the food chain since you will be working with folks who are ambitious and do meaningful work. Company recently won a $500M contract!! CEO was recognized as 100 most intriguing entrepreneurs. Certainly an up and up company recognized well by its customers. Benefits and compensation for full time folks are competitive, especially considering that VSolveit is a contractor. The additional facility at Marketstreet is very cool and includes a data center. Basic tea/coffee is provided, but too bad Keurig coffee pods are not provided. I have heard of interns being paid low, but then again ~ at least they are being paid above the minimum salary. I did my internship unpaid a few years ago!!

Cons

These folks are intense and do not accept mediocrity. Folks who want to coast along, you are better off not joining the company since they fire people quickly if performance is poor. Leadership is stretched ~ and management team is growing. This means there may be continued evolution in the culture ~ but so far so good.
