Pros

Overall benefits package is decent. Monthly Stipend to ThrivePass. Pay transparency in your specific role.

Cons

Go through these reviews and take notice of what departments are having negative reviews. Trust me, there is a similarity and it's not an exaggeration. If you are not in tech (the irony), you may enjoy working here. Overworked and underpaid in most positions where you do not hold a degree, your role is customer-facing or doesn't offer a stock option. Medical insurance packages lack coverage variety for those who are not in perfect health. Promotions out of your department are rare now. Human resources is horrid at this company. Support role is thankless- you will be taking a lot of complaints on behalf of incompetent engineering team. Get ready.

Thanks for sharing your experience, as it's the only way we can grow and improve. All employees at WP Engine receive stock options that are visible to employees in our internal systems. Your Manager will be able to help you find that information if needed. If you're comfortable doing so, we would welcome the opportunity to speak directly with you about your feedback. We encourage you to speak with your Employee Experience Business Partner or a member of the Employee Experience Leadership Team about your concerns.

Pros

Great people, brilliant minds, and the CEO is a star of a human being. A wonderful place to absorb a ton of information about current day corporate practices and learn from real savants of their field.

Cons

Employees in sales and finance are worked to the bone; Sales Managers are expected to work 60-80+ hours a week to maintain their competitive position and meet their quotas. Outdated workforce expectations like very limited WFH policy. Salaries are often 15-25% less than other players in town. Benefits like, flexible PTO policy, and lunch every day was taken away while I was there to pad bottom line. Private equity offerings for new hires was also significantly reduced. Groupthink highly present; expected to conform to a limited identity and not a lot of room to "think outside the box" for solutions. It seemed like it was a much better place before Silver Lake arrived on scene and imposed overambitious quarterly milestones.

Thank you for sharing your feedback! We appreciate your thoughts on work/life balance and are actively encouraging our colleagues to use their PTO. We routinely review our compensation and perks against the market and adjust as appropriate to ensure market competitiveness. We are all currently in the biggest work from home experiment which means a lot about our practices have changed in order to support a new way of working. We wish you had continued the journey to see what has changed.

Pros

WP Engine hires a lot of great people They are very understanding with flexible work times for engineers They try to set high standards for projects They are accomodating The work is challenging and is fun with the right team The office is in a great location downtown Remote work is possible when required Company provides equipment while you work there Benefits are getting better

Cons

There is a lot of lip service here that falls flat Its disheartening to lose great team members due to higher than average turnover It aims to become a top heavy organization Has a high school atmosphere, people are very cliquey and most decisions happen behind the scenes Many deserving people seem to not get promotions and end up leaving
