Pros

The benefits are fantastic and pay is good. They took care of the employees who were affected with a generous severance package. During the pandemic Eric Yuan's focus on culture was amazing and he did things I have never seen a CEO do in my career for employees. The solutions - Meetings, Phone, Contact Center, etc...are world-class, in my opinion the best in the industry.

Cons

Zoom was a great company to work for until the pandemic ended and the culture changed tremendously. The original caring culture and do what's best for employees diminished as the employee count rose. The recent re-org removed amazingly talented people. The sales managers are mostly made up of AE's who did well during the pandemic and were moved into a leadership role - many are simply "managers" not leaders.

Pros

CEO is a kind and inspirational leader. Great benefits and pay scale. Innovation on product is fast but Innovation on internal processes and tools is slow. Welcoming company culture depending on where you work.

Cons

- Zoom is experiencing some challenges moving from an app start up to a thriving communications platform business. Through this process communication silos are developing so communication and collaboration between departments can be frustrating. - With some big competitors in their space they are facing some strong headwinds. - Development and innovation on product such as the Zoom Events platform is slow off the industry mark. Need some fresh blood in the leadership of those products that are from that industry. - Many processes are still undeveloped and manual which creates day to day frustration in some areas.

Growing (Slowing) Pains

Pros

Great colleagues and leadership. Good brand recognition. Product has done a good job of growing the platform to more than just meetings. Lots of support tools and processes in place. Access to a ton of great SaaS / business applications. Culture was good although that may change.

Cons

Zoom is going through a ton of growing pains and rightfully so considering the company exploded overnight. The UC space is highly saturated and ultra-competitive. Videoconferencing, chat, telephony are essentially commodities post pandemic. Most deals come down to splitting hairs among features and cost. Success is highly dependent upon the book of business reps are tied to and timing of incumbent vendor contracts, etc. Channel is a mess - very few partners out there that do actually provide value. Operations is a mess. The amount of support and billing issues I got roped into was alarming. The workflows and processes around some of these Ops were tedious and time consuming. MSFT Teams is a problem. Product is running out of new products to sell. Some of these new add-on products are super niche and very tough to to assign a price tag. Timing is everything. I would tread carefully if considering a sales role here.
