November 20th is Transgender Day of Remembrance - a day of annual observance to honor the memory of Transgender and gender non-conforming individuals who lost their lives due to violence. The week before November 20th serves as Transgender Awareness Week to help both in raising visibility for this community and awareness of both the stigmas and discrimination faced by these individuals. This day also aims to raise awareness to the disproportionate level of violence in particular towards trans women of color, with murder reports of the Black trans community at higher numbers, comprising 4 out of every 5 anti-transgender homicides, according to the Human Rights Campaign.

Movember is a world-wide movement that takes place every November in an effort to raise awareness and funds for prostate cancer, testicular cancer, mental health and suicide prevention. Historically, these have been men's health topics not often raised. The movement has been supported by a community of Mo Bros and Mo Sisters - individuals passionate about prevention efforts for these causes. This all started with two gentlemen, Travis Garone and Luke Slattery, who had met up to enjoy some beers in Australia back in 2003. They were inspired to bring back the mustache as a fashion trend and so convinced 30 of their peers to grow one. The inspiration came about from a friend's mother who had been fundraising for breast cancer at the time. The mustache would represent men's health issues in comparison to the pink ribbon's breast cancer awareness symbol.
