Pros

Your co-workers, people who actually do the work, front lines, are awesome. Most joined the company because they believe in the mission of serving the underserved in the mental health space. Benefits are more than adequate. Unlimited PTO. Company pays 75% of health benefits. 401k matching up to 6%. Stable, has moved beyond "startup" phase. PE backed. Just purchased by KKR, a huge investment firm. Well funded.

Cons

You will notice that most positive reviews 4-5 stars are from employees with less than a year tenure. Most of the negative 1 star reviews are from those who were with companies that were acquired by the holdings company that is Therapy Brands. This is a 1 star review. Jan 2020 was a watershed moment. The former CEO and founder of TBH was ousted by the investors and replaced immediately (as in, same day) by their appointee. Focus turned to profits, more revenue, and squeezing every last bit of goodwill from those who were tenured. Tenured people, who came from the original brands, cared about the mission more than money. We serve MH professionals, substance abuse facilities, therapy, etc. We were passionate people who sought to help the passionate professionals in the therapy space. That was our mission: to help. The mission now is money. Full stop. You will get trampled if you care. If you do not care about who you serve, but want to get paid way less than market rate, get micromanaged, work the equivalent of 2 jobs, have no support or training, have senior management that don't care and who are obviously making a show for the front line worker that they do, have a product set that is falling behind to the competition because of lack of proper development, then this is the job for you. It is a corporate entity like any other. There is nothing that sets it apart. It is beige. The gulf between those who have direct communication with the customer and those who are in leadership is painfully vast. Please avoid being sucked into the machine. There are much better jobs out there. You can do better than work at Therapy Brands.

Thank you for your feedback as Therapy Brands is always striving to improve our employee experience. We agree that our team members are the heartbeat of our company and have a binding thread of compassion for our mission, our customers and the impact on their patients. That is what drives us forward. As a fast-paced, high growth company, we are continually evaluating and assessing how to more elegantly maneuver the growing pains that naturally come with getting to the next level of organizational development. We acknowledge that 2020 was a year of change as we worked towards the stabilization and harmonization of disparate practices, policies and more. We came together as a unified Therapy Brands, caring for our many brand families during unprecedented times. Our employees are resilient and hardworking, and we are so very proud of our teams, recognizing them through promotions (affecting over 10% of the population last year), peer to peer recognition through our TBH CARES program and Circle of Excellence. Training and development are the focus moving forward, starting with our Leadership Academy which launched in Q1 to better equip our leaders, and moving into Product and Solutions Training in 2021. Our goal is to provide the tools and resources along with a career path that employees need and deserve to be successful in their roles. Communication lines are open at TBH. We proudly offer multiple forums to talk directly with our Senior Leadership Team and People Operations. We care, we’re listening, and the best is yet to come with Therapy Brands.

Pros

The company benefits are nice.

Cons

The company does not, overall, feel the need to invest in their products or talent. This leaves hard working employees picking up the pieces when the software is failing, customers are mad and colleagues are leaving for better paying jobs.

Feedback is extremely valuable to us as we continue to better the employee experience for all, so we thank you for sharing. Talent management, training and product development are at the forefront of our focus. We are actively listening and gathering feedback through multiple forums. In 2020, Therapy Brands launched our employee engagement survey, which will be run multiple times again this year. We are also listening to departing employees through detailed exit conversations. This feedback enables us to become better as an organization. We encourage all team members to actively engage with their leadership and Senior Leaders at any one of the open forums provided to all.

I don't understand the 4 stars here?

Pros

Unlimited PTO VPs and Team members are great. A lot more women in leadership than most tech companies

Cons

Too many cooks in the kitchen. The organization structure here makes no sense. I felt like I had to answer to 4-5 different people on a regular basis. You have your manager, a director, a VP and then your GM. Your GM has no direct reports but they are very much acting like they do. The majority of the GMs are very toxic and are honestly what is driving good talent away. We've tried to create a paper trail with HR but honestly think the EVPs are too slammed to go through the hiring process of another GM. Speaking of slammed. Everyone is slammed. It's like a startup where you're expected to wear all these hats but then people tell you that your hat is wrong or you're not doing it good enough. Okay, then take something off my plate instead of giving me more. Also, a specific GM mansplains, talks down, and manipulates his employees on a regular basis. Folks are easily working 12 hours a day and the "merit increase" they rolled out was laughable. It didn't even offset the the health insurance increase. The folks giving these 4 stars are new and will eventually be worn down.

Thank you for sharing. Within a matrixed organization, where cross-functional relationships are crucial, we know that there can be questions around accountability. We are a young organization with a more mature model that we believe is right for us as we develop organizationally. Because we are very intentional about deepening the understanding of this model, we have developed workshops that are currently being delivered on this very topic, and we know they are making a difference. We agree that team members need to understand their role, the expectations for that role, and accountability within their function as well as potentially within their segment of the business, and we are committed to evolving and strengthening understanding of our business structure so that everyone may be successful.
