Pros

Focal Systems is a pretty cool company, really exciting tech, with passionate employees. They are hitting a growth spurt right now so action level is high. The company has grown from 1,000 cameras deployed 6 months ago to now 20,000 and will hit 100k by end of the year. The leadership team likes to promote from within. The Head of Product for example started as an entry level web dev / data analyst. The head of supply chain started as a field ops technician. So if you want to grow your career and wear many hats, and grow, this is the place.

Cons

Like many fast growing startups, there is never enough time in the day to get everything you need to get done done. It is true to the core values. Its a work hard / play hard culture. So if you want that, go for it. But if you want a more relaxed cushy job, I would not recommend Focal. There were comments on here about this already so I wont repeat that.

Pros

Having worked at big companies and startups, I have seen a lot. I have to say that this team is destined for great stuff. They work really hard. And they push out a ton of awesome code that does some awesome stuff. It is a startup so everyone has a big role to fill and can contribute and learn a ton.

Cons

Focal is not for everyone. If you do not want to be a part of a fast paced startup, it is definitely not for you. They are growing very fast and they do not have a lot of tolerance for people not executing which if you like to work with A players is a good thing. But if you want a more "cushy" job where it is ok to slack for a week or two, it is not the right place. The CEO wants it that way so the team is more potent and IMO that means that the equity is actually worth something vs. other startups that blow all their VC capital on fancy chairs and massages.

Thank you for taking the time to submit a review here. While we understand experiences working at our company are not all the same, we appreciate your sentiments equally to the other great reviews here. We have not had a sales role here besides our VP of Sales in the 2 years, so, unfortunately, I am not sure what role you worked in and why you left on such unfortunate terms. I encourage you to share your raw feedback with anyone you feel comfortable with sharing with on our leadership team so we can immediately tend to any improvements we can from your valuable perspective. Thanks again and wishing you well.
