Job is fine, training is a mess

Pros

Customers are great, and immediate mgmt is good.

Cons

The training, done at home, is invasive. The downloaded programs infect your computer, take over your Microsoft programs, and require a pro cleansing to remove.

Great for learning

Pros

THe education is the best since training value outside of the buisness would costs hundreds to thousands of dollars if going to college or other companies that offer tax courses.

Cons

You have to do your own marketing, push all their products even when you know the client will not benefit from it, and the pay is not great. Your pay will change if you don't increase your skill set or make the same or more in tax prep services or selling their additional product.

Lack of Training

Recommend

Business Outlook

Pros

The salary was decent, and my coworkers were good to me while I was there.

Cons

Management shifted schedules with no notice several times, and they provided almost no on the job training. They rely almost entirely on you self-training through online modules, and they will just toss you in on the first day not knowing which way is up and hope you figure it out.

Company chaos

Pros

I worked under Franchise for 25 yrs being office leader and tax pro. I was able to advance and work during off season for payroll clients, returns and client service. I made nice income that met with the work I did for the office, training new preparers and client service year round.

Cons

In the first tax season of company buy back of our offices, management limited hours and deleted almost a full year of payroll information along with the program that had employer’s information. They spend a lot of time badgering you to make calls constantly to clients to the point that clients are made. They push for clients to download information that there are many complaints from clients. They focus on making appointments for everything even if it’s only someone dropping things off. Appointment to do return, appointment to come back, appointment to pick up….as someone comes in and gets checked in, it is pushed to download documents there or even at preparers desk leaving the client asking “Why?”. After client has gone through all of this, the preparer STILL has to mark they are starting the return. WASTE OF A LOT OF TIME NEEDLESSLY! They will continue to lose experienced preparers due to their excessive non caring attitude along with losing more and more clients. Also, pulling new employees in with no experience and giving them a title will not save them.
