Pros

The intent to provide a safe, supportive and enriching environment for the elderly and those with memory impairment is a great goal to work towards. The residents are dear. You'll find some really good co-workers.

Cons

Where to begin? The pay is low, the benefits are almost non existent and expensive and the training is simply minimal at best. Upper management, if you have any, is not supportive, The home office is so detached from the reality of what goes on in the community, micromanaging is heavy but true leadership is completely lacking. You will feel like you are under a gag order to say anything to enlighten the home office or if you, God forbid, need help or have a question about the job. The job description, if you are even given one when interviewing, is deceptively light compared to the actual job requirements. Many mixed messages are sent. You are not given any management benefits at all but you are required to work as manager on duty on the weekends about every six weeks, will be required to attend every special event, work rotating holidays, and must use your PTO to take any holidays off. The hard workers are taken advantage of, the poor workers are rarely held accountable for anything. And the worst of it is, the residents are the ones to suffer from the enormous turnover and shortage of professional care.

Pros

Loved the residents and most of my coworkers. We became like family.

Cons

Very low pay, company does not care about associates or residents. just the bottom line. Residents are routinely neglected due to being severely understaffed! Think 2 people to care for 80 residents for 8 + hours! Highest turnover of any company I've ever seen! Staff gets fed up and quits during shift weekly! Management plays favorites with employees. Certain people routinely miss work, come in late, fail drug tests etc with no consequences BUT other employees that aren't part of the favorites , get written up and fired for the smallest infractions! Amazing place to work if you are willing to brown nose. I have personally seen people get let go for being "tardy" after reporting a favorite for drug use. I have seen an employee drug tested 5 times straight that are "chosen randomly " . I have also personally had an employee tell me they reported to management abuse and severe bullying by a group of associates , that was completely ignored . The group happened to be part of "the favorites" as they are called . The employee eventually asked to be transferred and changed cities because of it. The raises are a joke. In the 2 years I was employed, I had 2 raises of $.08 And $.14 per hour and these were given with good evaluations! Residents complain daily about things being stolen and certain employees are never investigated for it , even when it happened on their hall during their shift! It became absolutely ridiculous. I never had a problem myself because I stayed to myself, did my job and left. I did leave when I got hired at competitor of the company with a lot more money, better hours and management that cares. I'm sure that not all of legend companies are as bad as mine was but I wouldn't work their again for any amount of money and I wouldn t trust them to care for my dog!! Main office was told about a lot of this when I left. Not sure of anything was ever checked put ad I don't have thank you with anyone there anymore.
