Pros

Laid back, flexible hours, good option for employment when you are still in school or have more experience before.

Cons

Lack of good management Lack of respect for diversity Not enough training, and no support system when the customers are yelling at you for technician’s mistakes The system always allow for overbooking, and even booking when no auto parts are available, and you are always the first ones to get the heat from customers. It’s a mess

Pros

If you don’t have an kind of degree or debt you have to pay for, this is probably a good way to start making decent money right out of high school.

Cons

Safelite does not care about their technicians. They are constantly asking why morale is low or if there is anything they can do to “make our jobs better” but they never have any intent to do anything about it, unless you want your manager to bring in donuts one Friday a month, that’s the extent of their value for their employees. The pay structure is terrible. It’s so convoluted, based mostly off survey feedback, how many jobs you do a week, and a third score that has to do with warranties and casualty losses. You can easily miss out on hundreds of dollars a week for something that was completely out of your hands or control or was someone else fault entirely. I have missed out on a bonus because “the call center was rude”, because “the insurance was a pain to work with” because “this company won’t waive my deductible” and even because the people closing the shop on a Saturday completely forgot to invoice all my jobs before they closed. They claim it’s to insure quality, but it has absolutely nothing to do with that. On top of that, Safelite will make it a point to make sure they think of every conceivable way to blame the technicians for it no matter who was at fault. This job has been toxic to my mental health and I am here to say, the pay is absolutely not worth it. There is also no growth opportunities unless you are willing to be a technician for 15+ years.

Pros

Generally decent people work there, they give you all your tools and initial training

Cons

One of the techs got in a fight with management because they didn't want to give the mobile technicians water bottles during the summer. We had soda and monsters and a refillable jug, but no water. One of the techs made a huge stink about it, got told by one of the managers that "we aren't legally required to give you water". Sorta lacking in the "caring heart" they claim to have as a core value. Little to no training or support are offered after the initial training/break in period of a couple months, after that the general attitude is "figure it out", and keep in mind pay is largely based on successful installs and satisfied customers, though they refuse to offer continued education (I've never witnessed this in a job, even cashiers get ongoing training, and I brought it up several times to management to no avail) They have a very "realist" view of things, they have a small portion of guys who are naturally good at mechanical stuff/inclined to the work that stick around for as long as they can run them into the ground, and surround them with fodder that they wear out or break down within five years. Can't blame em, it's just good business And labor is billed at about 10X what they pay their techs
