The Worst Manager And Culture Ever Experienced

Pros

Simple 9-5 type of job that you don't need to take home with you.

Cons

Work environment really wears down on you. Overworked, underpaid, under-appreciated, constantly undermined, a lot of verbal abuse, disrespect, and extremely unprofessional. Constant trash talking and backstabbing, but will be a sweetheart to each others' faces. Why is everyone so angry? Turn over extremely high due to being poorly treated.

Misleading hiring tactics, arbitrary letting-go tactics

Pros

Easy work, pretty building, easy commute.

Cons

They bait and switch you from one position to the next in the interview room, offer zero warning or guidence when you aren't living up to their un-enumerated expectations, resulting in out-of-the-blue dismissal, the staff is disresepctful both racially and sexually, and managers pit employees against each other for professional growth.

While I may not agree with your depiction of our company in the "Cons" section of your review, I am sorry that you left us with such negatives feelings and memories. That said, I would like address the issues you raised. Every job we post is a real job that we need to fill. However, when we interview a candidate that possess certain competencies that we believe makes them suitable for a particular career track, we open up an exploratory dialogue with that candidate during the interview process. We don't just hire for today, we hire for the future. While a candidate may have applied for a specific job, we are also thinking about how the candidate can grow here at Stark. While we value and encourage clear and frequent communications between employees and their managers, especially around the topic of performance (goals, expectations and progress), we recognize this is a work in progress for us. I am sorry that you may have had a manager that was less skilled than needed while you were with us. Our work environment is a melting pot of high performing, high energy people who all get along very well with each other. I respectfully disagree with your assertion that they are disrespectful toward each other. As to your last issue, "managers pitting employees against each other for professional growth", while you may have interpreted something you heard or saw that way, it's just not an accurate assessment.

Not satisfying!

Pros

Decent pay, very friendly co-workers, nice office equipment, paid holidays

Cons

Get micromanaged, if you make a fixable mistake you are still criticized (was still training), company rules are not structured, no response from HR rep with multiple attempts.

First I would like to apologize to you for going through the experience of HR not getting back to you. It is neither our MO nor is it acceptable. Thank you for leaving your list of Pro’s about the company. I agree with you 100%. Our employees, pay and our benefits have been recognized as being among the best in the industry. The company has an open door policy that the Stark’s live by. Management want to hear from employees, especially employees with suggestions to make the company better. I encourage you to use suggestions@starkcarpet.com to submit your ideas about the structure of our company rules. Also, if you choose to identify yourself in your email, I assure you someone will get back to you to discuss your ideas and suggestions. On a final note, sometimes managers do things that they don’t realize they are doing (i.e. micromanaging). If you feel strongly about it, it may be a good idea to open up a discussion with your manager about how you feel.
