No clear path

Pros

Its a good starting point when you are new to the solar industry.

Cons

As an admin, there is no clear path for advancement. We take on many responsibilities, yet we remain in regular craft positions rather than moving into management roles. The company needs to offer a higher hourly rate, as the current pay is too low, and also increase the per diem. Additionally, we are often overlooked during annual reviews. I've observed that in this workplace, advancement is difficult unless you are family or a friend of someone in management. Furthermore, management seems to overlook the fact that we are hourly employees, and being off work for two weeks or more during the holidays has a significant impact on our finances. The rollout of the new system has been poorly managed, and the training provided has been inadequate. Without proper training, it's challenging to perform our jobs effectively and efficiently.

Thank you for sharing your detailed feedback. We appreciate the time and effort you’ve taken to provide insight into your experience and take your concerns very seriously. To address your concerns: • Compensation and benefits: We regularly perform compensation reviews to ensure employees’ salaries and benefits are fair and competitive with market standards. Your feedback regarding hourly rates and per diem will be shared with our People & Culture team for further evaluation, and we encourage you to speak with your supervisor or your People & Culture Business Partner to request a compensation review. • Career advancement: We understand the importance of having clear pathways for advancement. While we strive to recognize and reward hard work, we acknowledge that there is always room for improvement. Your suggestions will help us reassess how we can better support employees in progressing within the company. • End-of-year impact: We recognize that holiday downtime can create financial challenges for hourly employees. We will take this into consideration as we review our policies to balance business needs with employee well-being. • New system and training: We understand that the rollout of the new ERP system has presented challenges. Training is a priority, and we are working to enhance the available resources to ensure all employees feel confident using the new system. RES is also deeply committed to a culture of fairness and inclusivity. Your observation regarding the perception of favoritism in advancement will be taken seriously, and we will continue working to improve transparency in our processes. Pros

Pay and benefits are very good and a lot of upward mobility

Cons

No time at home and never know when you will leave for the next site. Will work 12 hours shift every day if the week except for every other Sunday. They do give you PTO but won’t approve it depending on state of the project. Rotations are optional at every site and you could end up on a site that doesn’t do 4 day weekends every 4 weeks. They do make it sound good though.

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We are glad to hear that you appreciate RES’ pay, benefits, and opportunities for upward mobility. We are committed to maintaining competitive compensation and providing avenues for career growth for all team members. We understand that the nature of our work can be demanding, and that unpredictable schedules and extended hours can be challenging. Balancing project needs with employee well-being is a priority for us, and your feedback helps us identify areas for improvement. Regarding PTO and rotations, while we strive to accommodate requests, we recognize that project timelines can sometimes impact approvals. We will continue working to improve transparency and flexibility in scheduling whenever possible. Your suggestion for enhanced training for new employees in project management for solar construction sites is very helpful. We agree that strong training is critical for both individual and project success, and we are actively looking for ways to strengthen our onboarding and development programs. Thank you once again for your candid input. If you have any additional suggestions, please contact your People & Culture Business Partner.
