Pros

RES develops a lot of its tech in-house, or has done so historically. This means you get to be hands-on with interesting projects. The company has built up a lot of expertise doing this and you'll be surrounded by talented individuals.

Cons

Your experience will largely depend on which business unit you join. Poor management and a challenging macroeconomic environment have led the company to focus on extremely short-term decisions. The result is departments working against each other, individuals focused on self-preservation, and a noticeable exodus of talent. The lack of standardized job titles means that recognition or progression typically only happens when there's a change in personnel or you move to a different role.

Pros

People that you work with everyday are genuinely good people who care about you.

Cons

FEs are consistently overworked, expected to put in 70+ hours a week while being on salary. Despite the demands of the role, FEs are underpaid and undervalued, which has led to the highest turnover rate of any position. It often feels as though the company would rather let experienced FEs go and replace them with new, less experienced hires instead of retaining and properly compensating the talent it already has.

Thank you for your feedback. We’re glad to hear you’ve had a positive experience with your colleagues and appreciate the care and camaraderie among the team. We also recognize that field roles can involve long hours and demanding schedules, and we’re grateful for the dedication and hard work of our Field Engineers. Your concerns around workload, compensation, and retention are important, and we encourage you to share more specific feedback with your People & Culture Business Partner so we can better understand your experience.

Pros

Brilliant company to start out at due to support for people early on in their careers. Great flexibility for working remotely and good office spirit. Access to collaborate other countries in the group (e.g. offices in the Americas) on developing solutions.

Cons

Teams are siloed pretty badly compared to other businesses I've worked at in the industry. Takes a while to work out who in the business to go to in order to get stuff done / escalate issues.
